The Coeur d’Alene Resort, A Gem In The Pacific Northwest
Lets take a look at one of the nicest destination resorts in the Pacific Northwest, The Coeur d’Alene Resort. Located in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and sitting on beautiful Lake Coeur d’Alene, the resort is home to one of the finest golf courses in the area. World famous for being the first golf course to feature a movable floating green (on the 14th hole), the resort is also home to what it claims to be the world’s longest floating boardwalk.
The area surrounding Coeur d’Alene is filled with attractions and things to do. The area features a great deal of outdoor recreation opportunities from water sports to snow sports. Coeur d’Alene is located right on Interstate 90 in the panhandle of Idaho so it isn’t far to drive to either the state of Montana or Washington.
In addition to the famous golf course, the resort is home to a European spa, and multiple lounges and restaurants.

You cannot watch television these days without being inundated with news and images of Paris Hilton. She is described as an heiress. But, where did this fortune come from? Let’s look at Paris Hilton’s ties to the Hilton Hotel chain.
Hilton Hotels was an international chain of hotels and resort sites that was founded by Paris’ great grandfather on her dad’s side of the family, Conrad Hilton. Although he had had experience running an inn with his father in New Mexico, the first hotel purchased by Conrad Hilton was the Mobley Hotel in Cisco, Texas. He continued to build and purchase hotels in Texas, at the same time making a reputation as a businessman to be contended with. In 1939, Hilton built his first hotel outside of the State of Texas with the La Posada de Albuquerque in the region of his birth, New Mexico.
The Great Depression affected many of the nation’s most successful businessmen, and Conrad Hilton was no different. In the 1930s Hilton was nearly forced into bankruptcy, in fact he lost several of his hotels. In many of the hotels that were now out of his control he was retained as the manager and through his successful running of those and the hotels he did possess he was able to eventually buy most of them back.
Hilton Hotels became the largest hotel company in the world in 1954 when it purchased the Statler Hotel chain. Conrad Hilton watched his hotel empire expand worldwide during the 1950s and 1960s, becoming the world’s first international hotel chain. The name Hilton was built up to mean the best of the best. The chain catered to early international business travelers as well as Americans vacationing abroad.
Conrad Hilton passed away in 1979 at the age of 91. The chain of hotels he started is now a major corporation, Hilton Hotels Corporation, and continues to be a major force in the international hotel industry.

Enjoying the resort hotels of today is a grand thing. Resort hotels have always been home to the finer things in life. Some are located on the beach and some are located in the mountains, but all of them cater to the more descriminate traveler. But what happens to these resorts when they fall out of favor?
Lets take a look at Grossinger’s Catskill Resort Hotel. During the 1950s and 60s, Grossinger’s Resort was one of the more popular resorts in the area. Located near Liberty, New York in the Catskill Mountains, Grossinger’s like many of the Borscht Belt resorts, has fallen into a state of disrepair due to people heading for other diversions. But, what does the transition look like?
Let’s take a look back at one of the older, but still one of the best resorts. A trip to Boca Raton, Florida means you must stay at the Boca Raton Resort & Club. If you have trouble finding it, its the tallest building in Boca Raton. If you continue to have trouble finding it, its painted pink. If you still have trouble finding it, you’re probably not in Boca Raton.
The Boca Raton Resort & Club opened in 1926 and quickly became one of the more popular destination resorts in the State of Florida. The resort is actually a luxury golf resort and includes a private nightclub. The 28 story tower portion of the resort was completed in 1969.
